Lorin Costello, Delta Gamma
California State University Long Beach

A junior majoring in communication studies, Lorin hopes to have a career in entertainment PR, where she can work “behind the scenes so others can be successful in the spotlight.” However she deserves to be in the spotlight too! Lorin transferred to CSULB last fall and quickly became active in her sorority. She was elected to serve as VP of Communications and on the Honor Board – and is the first new member to be elected to the Chapter Management Team. She is also part of the CSULB Student Communication Association and volunteers at the Blind Children’s Center and LB Veterans Affairs Hospital. “Iron sharpens iron,” is a motto Lorin learned from her father and believes it applies to the sorority experience: “we should surround ourselves with people who make us better, and in turn, we should always strive to bring out the best in others.”

Lexie is a sophomore studying psychology and child development and wants to pursue a career in education. As a new sorority member, she jumped in to help with fundraising, then took on leadership roles as Director of Committees and Director of Ritual. She is currently an Executive Board member and, as VP of Foundation, she manages community service for the chapter. Lexie has an outstanding track record in philanthropy, having been honored by the Girl Scouts and Disneyland for her more than 150 volunteer hours spent creating school lesson plans to improve understanding of the foster care system and adoption. She also serves as a mentor for other young women and gives time to Project OCEAN at CSULB. Lexie is thankful she can count on her “amazing support system” of both sorority sisters and women from the other NPC chapters on campus.

She is also active in Greek Intraversity and leads regular Bible study sessions. Breanna is equally focused on helping her sorority sisters to be responsible, safe, healthy and happy. She is currently VP of New Member Education and has served as Risk Prevention Chairman, Standards Board Chairman and a member of the Bylaws Committee. As for her sorority, she says she is getting “a once-in-a-lifetime experience that cannot be stereotyped or taken for granted.”

A freshman, Maddy is off to an impressive start on campus and in the community. She is majoring in liberal studies in the integrated teaching credential program and aims to first teach kindergarten, then get an advanced degree in administration. She immediately got involved in her sorority’s philanthropic activities and is currently Think Pink Chair, focused on promoting breast cancer education and awareness. She is a prestigious President’s Scholar and serves as voice for her top-performing classmates as representative to the University Honors Program. Maddy volunteers at Long Beach Farms, worked at TED Talk at CSULB and participated in the Student Research Competition. She was high school valedictorian and took home numerous honors for athletics, academics and activities. She is proud to have joined the Greek community, which she says “builds up and empowers each of its members.”
