Greater Long Beach Alumnae Panhellenic
GLBAP had its beginnings in 1913, when alumnae for Phi Omega Pi (now Delta Zeta) called for a sisterhood gathering at Bixby Park. Women from Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and Theta Upsilon (also now Delta Zeta) took part in the informal event and the group continued their social activities until World War I. In 1923, they resumed their meetings and formed an official organization at the iconic Virginia Hotel, with national sorority presidents helping to form the group's board. Since then, GLBAP has supported the sorority experience of leadership, friendship, community service, and scholarship for university women from the Long Beach area.
Our delegates are sorority alumnae who represent the 26 organizations that comprise the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), one of the oldest and largest organizations advocating for women. They have experienced the many benefits that sororities offer women, not just in college, but throughout their lives, and work to promote participation in the sorority system among both students and alumnae.
